Fabric Insights
We believe a custom piece is more than just a frame and fabric—it's a story. Learn about our favorite textiles and how to care for them.
Revolution Performance Fabrics
A fabric that has truly changed the game for busy homes. If you love beautiful custom pieces but worry about spills, kids, or pets—this is for you.
Why We Trust Revolution (And You Can, Too)
Revolution is a "performance fabric" engineered from the fiber up to handle the mess of real life. It's the perfect blend of durability, softness, and peace of mind—all while being made in the USA.
Practically Unstainable
Made from 100% solution-dyed olefin, the color is part of the fiber itself. Stains like wine, coffee, or ink can't bond with the fiber and can be cleaned away.
Worry-Free Cleaning
Revolution fabrics are bleach cleanable! Use a diluted bleach solution to remove the toughest stains without fading or damaging the fabric.
Incredibly Durable
Built to last. Resists pilling, fuzzing, and fading—ideal for your most-used furniture like the family sofa or breakfast nook banquette.
Eco-Friendly Choice
Made from upcycled petroleum byproducts with a small carbon footprint. 100% free of PFC/PFAS chemicals often found in other stain-resistant fabrics.
A Note on Feel
Don't let the word "performance" make you think of stiff, plastic-y outdoor fabric. Revolution is now woven in a huge variety of beautiful textures that are surprisingly soft, comfortable, and perfect for a cozy living room.
How to Care for Your Revolution Upholstery
This is the best part—it's almost effortless. Revolution is designed to make your life easier.
Routine Maintenance
- Vacuum Regularly: Weekly vacuuming with a soft brush keeps dust and crumbs from settling.
- Blot Spills: If a spill happens, blot with a dry, clean cloth to absorb as much as possible.
Spot Cleaning (The Magic Part)
- Most Spills: Clean with mild soap and water.
- Tough Stains: Mix 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Spray lightly, blot gently.
- Rinse Thoroughly: Critical step! Remove all bleach or soap residue.
- Air Dry: Let spot air dry completely.
The Alta Treatment Guide
What if you've fallen in love with wool, Belgian linen, or soft cotton, but worry about it holding up to real life? Alta is your answer.
Why We Recommend an Alta Treatment
Think of Alta not as a fabric, but as a permanent, high-tech finish that acts as invisible armor for the fabric of your choice. It's an advanced, 95% water-based solution that molecularly bonds to the fibers.
Keeps Your Fabric's "Hand"
An Alta treatment will not change the feel, softness, color, or breathability of your chosen fabric. Your linen stays airy, your velvet stays plush.
Superior Stain Repellency
Engineered to repel both water-based and oil-based stains. Spills like wine, coffee, and soda will "bead up" on the surface.
Eco-Friendly Choice
95% water-based and free of solvents, VOCs, PFOS, PFOA, formaldehyde, and phthalates—perfect for a healthy home.
Durability & Longevity
The treatment is permanent—it won't wash off or wear away. It also improves resistance to pilling and abrasion.
How is Alta Different from Revolution?
Revolution is a specific type of fiber (olefin) that is inherently stain-proof. Alta is a treatment applied to other fabrics. This gives you the freedom to get performance-level protection on a much wider range of materials, including delicate natural fibers like linen, wool, and cotton.
How to Care for Alta Treated Fabrics
Care is simple and designed to handle messes before they become stains.
Routine Maintenance
- Vacuum Regularly: Use a soft brush attachment weekly to prevent dust from settling.
Spills & Stains
- Act Quickly: Alta causes liquids to bead up, but don't let spills sit.
- Blot, Don't Rub: Use a clean, dry cloth to blot immediately.
- For Residual Spots: Blot with plain warm water.
- Stubborn Stains: Use mild dish soap with warm water. Rinse thoroughly!
- Air Dry: Let spot air dry. No hairdryers.
Important Note
- No Bleach: Do not use bleach, solvents, or harsh chemicals on Alta-treated fabrics (unlike Revolution).
- The treatment is powerful but not designed to withstand harsh chemicals.
The Linen Upholstery Guide
One of the most timeless and beloved textiles—linen is the definition of casual elegance.
Why We Love Linen (And You Will, Too)
Linen is woven from the fibers of the flax plant, making it one of the oldest and most respected natural materials in the world. It brings a relaxed, sophisticated, and "lived-in" feel to any room.
Natural & Sustainable
As a plant-based fiber, linen is a fantastic eco-conscious choice. It's biodegradable and requires far less water and resources to produce than many other fabrics.
Durability for Life
Don't let its soft feel fool you. Linen is one of the strongest natural fibers available, meaning your upholstered piece is built to last. In fact, linen gets softer and more comfortable with time.
Breathable Comfort
Linen is highly breathable and a natural temperature regulator. It feels cool and fresh in the summer yet cozy and comfortable in the winter.
A Healthy Home
Linen is naturally hypoallergenic and anti-bacterial, making it a perfect choice for a clean, healthy, and family-friendly living space.
A Note on Wrinkles
Linen's unique charm includes its tendency to wrinkle. This is not a flaw—it's part of its natural character and what creates that sought-after, relaxed aesthetic. It's a fabric that's meant to look comfortable and inviting, not stiff or perfect.
How to Care for Your Linen Upholstery
Linen is surprisingly easy to care for, but it does require the right approach. With simple maintenance, your linen pieces will age beautifully for years to come.
Routine Maintenance
- Vacuum Regularly: Use your vacuum's soft brush upholstery attachment weekly or bi-weekly to prevent dust from settling into the fibers.
- Fluff & Rotate: If you have removable cushions, fluff them regularly and rotate positions to ensure even wear.
Spills & Stains
- Act Quickly: Linen is absorbent. Treat spills before they set.
- Blot, Don't Rub: Immediately blot with a clean, dry, white cloth.
- Spot Clean: Use a mild, water-free upholstery cleaner or gentle soap with distilled water. Always test first.
- Air Dry: Let spots air dry completely. No hairdryers!
Professional Help
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Never use bleach, ammonia, or harsh cleaners on linen.
- Call a Pro: For large or set-in stains (wine, oil), call a professional upholstery cleaner experienced with natural fibers.
